As we are all aware the world is facing a steadily growing global food crisis. Each day, it seems, there are new news reports about the effect of the the growing population on our ability to feed ourselves in the future. For a couple of months now I’ve been thinking about this and I’d like to know what other Tribe members think. My question is this:
What are your attitudes towards food and how were they formed?

Re: Attitudes towards food
Sat, July 19, 2008 - 9:23 PMWelcome to Tribe, Mathew.
My grandma's acre garden n' grove in the city was a homestead she held onto long enough to share values with me re: fresh from the ground or sky is the best. DID NOT KNOW for years that people bought veggies from the store...or that fruit wasn't just something you waited through summer for picking/drying/freezing. Remember, I was a city kid. Still feel that way about food. Self-reliance and village-access to food is the only realistic way to truly enjoy the quality of what I eat. Outside accessed sauce/herb ingredients aside............
When I'm not eating that way, it seems like just.....rations.

Re: Attitudes towards food
Wed, November 12, 2008 - 6:24 AMI've have lived with an over abundance of food, and I've lived at the poverty level. I think the most important part of food is supporting your own local economy - Farmers markets - After one visit, its difficult to imagine a grocery store. Sadly, I don't get to the farmers market as often as I should. Good food is like classical music, you simply must appreciate everything that went into its creation.
